Hi everyone! This time, we’re off to Boone, North Carolina—a picturesque mountain town brimming with outdoor adventures and fascinating history. Lace up your hiking boots, and let’s explore the wonders of Boone!
Day 1: Downtown Boone
Begin your adventure exploring downtown Boone. Visit the shops on King Street and don’t miss the Mast General Store (9 AM-6 PM), a local classic. Enjoy lunch at Proper, a homey spot serving southern comfort food.
Day 2: Mystery Hill
Head to Mystery Hill (9 AM-6 PM) , a unique blend of science, optical illusion, and fun. Kids will love the hands-on learning experiences.
Day 3: Grandfather Mountain
Spend the day at Grandfather Mountain (8 AM-6 PM; $24 adults, $9 children), known for its Mile High Swinging Bridge and beautiful hiking trails. Additionally, it’s the home of Mildred the Bear.
Day 4: Tweetsie Railroad
Hop aboard the Tweetsie Railroad (10 AM-6 PM; $60 for adults, $40 for children), a wild west-themed amusement park that is sure to delight kids of all ages.
What is included in a Daily Admission ticket?
A daily admission ticket includes a ride behind one of our historic narrow-gauge steam locomotives, live Wild West-themed entertainment, the Deer Park Zoo, classic amusement rides, and panning for gold. Additional expenses are food and retail-related including animal feed, gem mining, arcade games, souvenirs, the penny press, and all food venues. Parking is always free.
Day 5: Appalachian Ski Mountain
Try your hand at skiing or snowboarding at Appalachian Ski Mountain (hours and prices vary seasonally). Don’t worry if you’re beginners, they offer lessons for all ages.
Day 6: The Blowing Rock
Visit The Blowing Rock (9 AM-5 PM; $10 for adults, $5 for children), a fascinating geological formation that offers stunning views.
Day 7: Daniel Boone Native Gardens
End your adventure in the tranquil Daniel Boone Native Gardens (9 AM-8 PM; donation requested). Enjoy the variety of plants and the serene atmosphere.
